GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT

Despite that Endometriosis affects one in ten women worldwide, and in that sense is a common disease, it is unacceptable that it is one of the most misdiagnosed conditions in the world!

To add to the dilemma, it is shocking to see the myriad of misconceptions on Endometriosis.

Let’s get the facts straight.

(Source: Endo, fertility dietician – Cindy)
  • “NO! Endometriosis is not just a bad period”. “It is a whole-body disease with hormonal inflammatory and autoimmune – like components”.
  • NO!, “Endometriosis does not have a cure. Pregnancy, Lupron, Birth control pills, Coil, Hysterectomy and Menopause ARE NOT cures for Endo”.
  • Endo can be extremely painful or may not be painful at all (also known as – Silent ENDO)

While for some women the First Symptom is pain for others it can be infertility or subfertility. These, however are not the only “First Symptoms” but are the more common & obvious symptoms.

There are different treatment options worldwide, such as (not an exhaustive list);
  • Western
  • Ayurveda
  • Chinese medicine
  • Acupuncture
  • Homoeopathy
These methods can successfully manage the condition. Do not consider it a cure.
  • Management options are not universally effective. Each case will be different.
  • Endo does not discriminate. No one is too young to have it.
  • It is a disease that affects both girls and women in every part of the world.
  • A laparoscopy is the only certain way to diagnose Endo.
  • Endometriosis is no one’s fault. It can bring on social isolation due to its debilitating nature. Therefore it is very important to let people know what you are experiencing during a flareup.
  • You can reduce the confusion and misunderstanding with your friends and family every time you are not available.
  • Listen to your body. You will know when you have a flare-up. Dont let anyone bully you into thinking you are being a ‘cry baby’, because you are not!(migraine, stomach cramps, severe bloating & fatigue are REAL!)
  • Todate, Endometriosis remains an engima in the medical and social circles.
  • However, access to accurate medical and lifestyle information opens the door to a better quality of life for us Endo Warriors. So, BE INFORMED and EMPOWERED!
